SOME BIG NEWS

I feel a sense of home when I come to write a blog post. It’s like resting your head on a pillow after a long day. And in the best way these past few days have all been long days.

As I rest my head on this pillow it seems like everything has been a dream. 4 months ago Kate and I filled up a Budget truck and
hit the road. That was only four months ago that we saw California in the rear view and took the largest leap of faith of my life. All I knew is that I had a job at a warehouse, a band that needed me on tour, and an interview with a Pastor at a church in Lawrence.

In those 4 months I checked off so many things from my bucket list. First being going on tour with a band. I got to hear a song I wrote played for strangers in a completely different state. It was amazing. I saw a great lake and watched my new friend Blake cry at the sight of it. I got stuck in a snowstorm that kept us out of Kansas City, and then as soon as I got back I continued to work the night shift at that warehouse.

I got married! The thought of it leaves me at a loss for words. I got to be bound to the one I love for the rest of my life. That’s crazy. It’s amazing to see how much Kate and I have grown by knowing that we have each other through all of this craziness of life. And I still can’t believe I’m a married man.

(I should post more pictures, and hopefully I will because it’s been far too long, but there’s just so much to say and so little time to write it all out.)

I got the job at Lawrence Heights, and man it’s been amazing. We’ve relaunched the Youth Ministries and I’ve gotten a chance to go up to camp with these kids and it’s so obvious that God is doing amazing things through them. I still can’t believe it. We’re planning a relaunch of the Children’s Ministry now and I’m looking forward to see Family Ministry as a whole brought to a new level as God continues to grow His body in Lawrence.

And now for the big news, Kate and I bought a house! We’re closing on it TODAY, after a crazy battle with a cat lady that almost left us without our dream home, we finally confirmed that we are closing. We have 2.5 acres mostly of woods, there’s a sunroom, and a treehouse, and I just can’t believe that all of it will be ours. What a blessing to be given so much to use for the glory of God. We’ll be able to have the youth over for retreats, and have a little camp fire out in our yard. But most importantly we’ll be able to get a DOG!!!!

I wish I had kept everyone more informed of everything, because there are so many stories that I can’t even begin to tell, and so many adventures on the horizon that I’m excited for. Hopefully blogging will be one of those adventures. Thank you all for reading! Blessings and shalom - Alex
